About Us

The processes behind LCOYs are coordinated by the LCOY Working Group of YOUNGO. In this group, young people from all around the world communicate with each other to give support to LCOY organizers, to build this website, to review applications, and to further develop the concept of LCOYs.

You want to be part of this?
Please join us, everyone is cordially welcome!

The UN Climate Change Conference of Youth (COY) is an event under the banner of YOUNGO – The Official Youth Constituency of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The conference takes place right before the annual UN Climate Change Conference, also known as Conference of the Parties (COP), in the same host country as the COP. COY serves as a space for capacity building and policy training, in order to prepare young people for their participation at COP.

PRINCIPLES of LCOY

SUPPORT

The most important role of this working group is to empower and support young people who want to make a difference in their communities.

CONSENT

All decisions are made by consent. However, responsibilities can be delegated to specific groups that can then act autonomously.

TRANSPARENCY

Meaningful participation by all is only possible if we are transparent about the processes and our decisions.

EQUITY

We actively welcome each and every young person, no matter what background they have and with what level of experience they join.

LEARNING

Both as a group and as its members, we have to experiment, make mistakes, and learn continuously.

Empowerment

Empowering climate leaders by helping them to set up LCOYs in their countries and regions.
